Congratulations to registered midwife, Amy Welsh, who has been awarded a scholarship through our Nursing and Midwifery Education Fund, made possible by the generous support of founding partner, Rotary Mornington.
Amy who has been a valued member of The Bays since 2020, will be undertaking the Applied Skills in Perinatal Mental Health Assessment and Care course through the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE), furthering her expertise in this critical area of maternal healthcare.
With a growing number of women experiencing perinatal mental health challenges, Amy is passionate about making a difference.
“Supporting mothers’ mental health and wellness is essential. A healthy mother leads to a healthy baby, and together they create a thriving community,”” Amy shared.
“”Specialist care in this field is needed now more than ever, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to enhance the support we provide to families as they enter parenthood.””
Maternity Unit Manager Stacey Gilbert fully supports Amy’s dedication to this vital area of care.
“”We are seeing an increasing number of patients with perinatal mental health concerns, and having a specialist on our team will be invaluable — not only for our patients but also for our staff and obstetricians. This knowledge will enhance our patient experience, improve mental health awareness, and support team wellbeing.””
Amy’s commitment reflects the mission of both The Bays and Rotary Mornington — to prioritise the health and wellbeing of our community.
We wish Amy all the best in her studies and look forward to seeing the positive impact of her expertise!
