As she prepares to finish work on 8 August ahead of welcoming her second child, our Infection Control Coordinator, Kirby Smith, has just achieved a remarkable professional milestone: she is now officially qualified as a Nurse Immuniser.

Kirby completed the National Immunisation Program for Health Practitioners through the Australian College of Nursing, while working part-time and preparing for her baby’s arrival in just a few weeks a testament to her dedication, resilience, and passion for healthcare.

Her studies were generously supported by the Nurse and Midwife Education Fund, made possible by founding partner Mornington Rotary Club. The fund enables ongoing training opportunities for our nursing and midwifery team, helping us continue to deliver high-quality, community-focused care.

With her new qualification, Kirby is now able to immunise staff and volunteers as part of The Bays’ annual flu vaccination program a valuable addition to her skill set and a great benefit to our team.

Our Director of Clinical Services, Kellie Bamberry, shared her praise: “Well done, Kirby! It was a lot of work at a time when you had a lot going on.”

Congratulations to Kirby on this fantastic achievement and warmest wishes as she begins her maternity leave and prepares to welcome her new baby. We can’t wait to meet the newest member of your family!
