Yesterday, we came together at Alexandra Park Pavilion to celebrate the heart of our organisation – our volunteers.
As part of National Volunteer Week (18–24 May), we hosted a relaxed morning tea on Tuesday, 19 May to thank The Bays volunteers and recognise important Years of Service milestones. It was a valuable opportunity to pause and acknowledge the kindness, time and care our volunteers so generously contribute every day.
At The Bays, our volunteers are an essential part of the care experience for patients, families and staff. Whether offering a friendly conversation, a reassuring presence, or support behind the scenes, their generosity and compassion make a lasting difference across our hospital.
The morning tea featured light refreshments generously provided by Seed Fine Foods. We were also pleased to welcome guests from Community Bank Mount Martha, who joined us alongside staff and volunteers in a shared celebration of appreciation and connection.
Staff contributed to the occasion by writing messages of thanks on canvas boards, creating a visual display that reflected the warmth, gratitude and community spirit in the room.
We extend our sincere thanks to all our volunteers for their ongoing commitment and service.
National Volunteer Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering. This year’s theme, “Your Year to Volunteer,” encourages Australians to explore the many ways volunteering strengthens communities and creates meaningful change.
We recognise the vital role our volunteers play in helping us foster a caring, connected and compassionate environment for everyone who walks through our doors.
