Colorectal & General Surgeon
Dr Joyce Ma is a general surgeon with specific training and an interest in colorectal and hernia surgery.
After obtaining her General Surgery Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2023, Joyce undertook a two-year minimally invasive colorectal and hernia fellowship at Barwon Health and Epworth Hospital in Geelong. In 2025, Joyce completed an international colorectal fellowship through the prestigious John Goligher Colorectal Unit at St James’s University Hospital in Leeds, United Kingdom.
Joyce specialises in minimally invasive colorectal and hernia surgery. She is experienced in the management of malignant and benign colorectal conditions (colorectal and anal cancers, diverticular disease, inflammatory bowel disease and proctology) as well as elective and emergency general surgical conditions including appendicitis, cholecystitis, hernias and skin lesions. Joyce is also GESA (Gastroenterology Society of Australia) certified in gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
Joyce moved to the Mornington Peninsula in 2026 to commence work at Peninsula University Hospital as a general and colorectal surgeon. She hopes to improve access to minimally invasive colorectal and hernia surgery for the local Peninsula community.
