Dr Alex Ioannidis



Dr Alex Ioannidis is an Ophthalmologist with a particular interest in Cataract Surgery and diseases of the Anterior Segment of the Eye. For his cataract patients, he offers the latest in intraocular lens technology, including Premium intra-ocular lenses such as Toric and Multifocal Intraocular Lenses (MFIOL) for the correction of astigmatism and age-related long-sightedness (Presbyopia).

Alex completed his Medical Degree at the University of London and Higher Surgical Training at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, UK. He has completed two post-graduate surgical Fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital. Alex has developed expertise in the management of complex cataracts in the setting of other diseases of the Anterior Segment.

He is also able to offer his patients both Conventional and Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery (LACS). With his experience in managing corneal disorders, Alex also performs collagen cross-linking to treat keratoconus, micrograft pterygium surgery, and also manages ocular surface diseases such as Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Neoplasia. Alex has published and presented extensively with over 50 publications and presentations in National and International Conferences over the years. In addition to his private work Alex works as Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he is involved in the teaching and supervision of Medical Students and Ophthalmic Registrars on the Training Rotation in Victoria.
