Volunteer positions

The Bays is currently seeking volunteers for the following programs:

  • Day Surgery Patient Companionship

    providing one on one companionship to patients recovering in our wards and in our Day Surgery Unit together with assisting staff when required

  • Cancer Care

    assisting The Bays Cancer Care Nurses and patients in areas such as administration, support seminars and the ‘Making Strides’ walking group

  • Concierge

    helping people find their way by providing directions and escorting patients or visitors throughout The Bays Hospital and assisting patients in waiting rooms

  • Gift Shop

    retail assistance in our gift shop – selling items and homemade knitwear to raise funds for The Bays

  • Gardeners

    assist in gardening activities and projects to create and maintain comfortable and pleasing gardens for our patients, visitors, staff and volunteers to enjoy. This includes light duties such as planting, weeding and general maintenance of the grounds

  • Community Ambassadors

    be part of the team that assists with fundraising, events or promotional activities

  • Focus Group Participation

    be a part of our connection to the community. Assist by providing feedback regarding organisational, health or consumer issues together with participating in general surveys or questionnaires

  • Relievers

    provide assistance to the organisation to relieve a volunteer shift if someone is unwell, away on holidays or absent

  • Resident Companionship/Diversional Therapies 

    provide company for our aged care residents by participating in communication and companionship together with assisting with Diversional Therapies such as lifestyle groups.

  • The Bays Aged Care Pink Ladies

    welcomes new members. The Bays Pink Ladies assist with providing aged care with the beauty and refreshment of flowers either from their own garden or sourced elsewhere
